Ok…
I think I figured it out:
Usually when people (some) on the ‚combi‘ (kind of a small bus) pass by a church, they do this ‚cross thingie’… and I always thought that it was because of the church and they felt they should do it…
BUT by now I do believe it is because the think they are going to die!!!
YES!
We usually take the combi going to school and I usually feel soooooo sick by the time I get out of that thing. They simply drive like MAD!
The cool thing is, you can just stand somewhere on the sidewalk… wave at the combi and they stop for you to get it.
But right then the tragedy starts:
They make you get into the combi really quickly and sometimes even befor you even had the chance to completly get in, they already drive on to the next stop…
The other thing is that if you don’t get a place to sit – which happens quite regulary you have to stand… somewhere… BUT: I’m 1.80m and some of the busses are not made for people like me… so I have to stand there with my head bowed OR if I do get a place to sit, my legs are simply too long!
So here I am… standing or sitting in a not really comfortable postition (either way) and hold on to whatever is in front of me!
The drivers only use the gas – and break pedal thingie – besides the steering wheel – quite a lot actually!!! There are so many holes in the streets as well as speed bumps… it’s no fun!
If you wanna get out, you ‚just‘ make your way to the door and say ‚BAJA‘ and you might be able to get out, even before they drive on…
The ‚joy ride‘ only costs 70 centimos (less than 0.20€) 🙂
Wollo thinks I just simply try to ENJOY it! HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! He must be kidding me!
Anyways… I just wanted to share this little bit of Peru with you! 🙂
PS: There’s this game ‚crazy combi‘ on facebook… you should really try playing it! It gives you a pretty good impression of what it’s like sitting in one of those buses! 🙂
