19<\/span> Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ. 20<\/span> When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ. When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under that law. Even though I am not subject to the law, I did this so I could bring to Christ those who are under the law. 21<\/span> When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish law, I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to Christ. But I do not ignore the law of God; I obey the law of Christ.<\/p>\n 22<\/span> When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. 23<\/span> I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.<\/p>\n 24<\/span> Don\u2019t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25<\/span> All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26<\/span> So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27<\/span> I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n 19-23<\/span>Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized\u2014whoever. I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ\u2014but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I’ve become just about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. I did all this because of the Message. I didn’t just want to talk about it; I wanted to be in on it! <\/p>\n 24-25<\/span>You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally. <\/p>\n 26-27<\/span>I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition.
